Who we are
About
We are Darren ("H") & Marian ("M"). We've recently retired from our 30-year long careers and are setting out to experience as much of this planet as possible. Our home base is Arizona - where our 4 adult children live.
"H" is the planner and mastermind behind this experiment - without his passion for travel, it's possible that we would never leave North America!

I grew up in Southern California in the 70s and 80s. Traveling was not a priority to my family. Why should it, we live in the greatest place on the planet? (at least that is what we were led to believe). The extent of my travels were road trips to other parts of California and an occasional trip just South of the border to Rosarito or Ensenada, Mexico. That all changed in 1986.
One of my best friends was born in Austria. He was planning a backpacking trip through Europe for the summer and invited me along. That trip changed my life. We visited 8 countries over 3 months. I was hooked on traveling. I loved the beauty, the history, the culture, the languages and the architecture of these countries. I finally realized that while Southern California was certainly a nice place to grow up, it was a very small blip on this great planet. I vowed to travel to far off and exotic places.
Well life got in the way. I got married, had children, bought houses and had a corporate job to take care of all of these things. I still was able over the years to travel to Tahiti, Jamaica, Hawaii, Cancun, Cozumel, Cabo and two trips back to Europe. However, because of the responsibilities of my life, those trips were limited to one or two week quick trips.
I am fortunate to be able to have hung it up from the corporate rat race at a somewhat early age. As such, we have decided to give traveling full time a shot and are off seeing as much as we can, while we can. If this sounds interesting to you, “COME WITH US” on this adventure. Happy and safe travels to you all.

I've lived in the desert regions of California, Arizona, and Nevada my entire life. I did not get to travel much when I was young so I honestly get excited (and anxious) about going anywhere!
I worked in healthcare for 30 years and have had the opportunity to meet and work with a lot of fascinating people and I'm looking forward to connecting with even more (while not working)!
I hope that sharing our experiences is helpful or interesting to someone out there - even if it is as simple as an accommodation recommendation or a good dining experience (I'm a bit of a foodie!).
