M here (again) as we wrap up our week in Germany. We began with 4 nights in Munich, 1 night in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, and currently on our third evening in Nuremburg. The photograph above is from Bamberg as we did spend a couple of hours there.

Munich was stunning. Neat and organized. It is obvious the care and pride in this city for not only the local community, but for our planet as well. This city seems to consider its global impact, something I would love to see more of at home. I also noticed there was no litter anywhere. Initially I thought the beer bottles on the sidewalks were litter but it's simply that the glass does not go into the regular trash bins.

If you are in need of a few places to visit: Marienplatz square, the Glockenspiel, Asamkirche (or Asam Church), Viktualienmarkt, Munich Residence, Nymphenburg Palace, St. Michael's Church, English Garden.

The subway and trams are all very clean and easy to use. We were fortunate to have come across some social media posts before our arrival to Germany that informed us about how to purchase a ticket that has allowed us to use all modes of public transportation here (buses, subway, trams, and regional trains). There are no turnstiles here, you are able to board on your honor and be prepared to show your ticket during your journey.

It seems you can find most types of cuisine in Munich. In the Marienplatz area, there is a Schmalznudel Cafe Frischhut that did not disappoint when I wanted a sweet treat. We also happened upon a very small pizzeria near our room, KeBuona la telliana. I will never forget how good this pizza was. A friend of mine says that food is better when it's cooked 'with love' and I think that is what set this pizza apart from the hundreds of other pizzas I've had in my life.

Rothenburg ob de Tauber is a small medieval town with intact city walls that you can access. It is a small, picturesque town, part of the "Romantic Road" route, so a popular stop for tourists but quiet. We only spent 1 night here. I think I would've liked 1 more. We've heard you should indulge in a "Schneeball" pastry while there, but we didn't (had gelato instead!). If I have a tip for future visitors, I recommend making dinner reservations. We did not but had luck on our side and were able to dine at a nice Italian restaurant.

Nuremburg. Three days. How am I to give an opinion about this city so rich in historical significance. I will not try. We joined a 2-hour walking tour of the Old Town. Our impassioned guide tried to help us understand, in a short amount of time, the city's history and how its people re-built and moved forward. Tonight, we will indulge in some traditional German cuisine. I will update if it's worth a recommendation. Cheers to experimenting (prost!)

Update: our dinner at Wirtshaus Hütt’n was very good! Service was friendly while being VERY busy. I give it a thumbs up!
