London, England

We are currently wrapping up our week in London.
Here are a few somewhat unorganized thoughts & tidbits to share that might be useful:
We stayed at an apartment-style hotel in East London. H deliberately chose it based on its proximity to a tube station. Wise! We rode the tube all over London
The tube. It is easy to use - just have a credit card or your iPhone wallet handy and tap to get on and off. Be sure to use the same card when you tap out to avoid an extra fare charge
There has been a lot of walking, of course. Our East London location was a 20-30 minute walk over Tower Bridge and Borough Market
Borough Market. It would've been smart to visit the market early in our week to stock our refrigerator with fruits, vegetables, bread, and treats (I need a do-over)
Museums. We did not intend to spend a lot of time in London's museums (many of which have free admission!) but we did end up in a couple. Would advise others to check the websites of each museum to secure a free ticket as we understand they can potentially reach their limit
In fact, would recommend checking websites for anything that is a must-see on the itinerary; we heard Sky Garden free tickets needed to be secured about 2 weeks in advance and thankful that we saw this tip
The people in London are kind and welcoming. Although people here are just as much in a hurry as in other big cities, the atmosphere is friendly and polite. A silly example of this from this morning - I stepped off a curb to cross the street thinking the car was stopping, H stopped me and gave the driver a quick wave as if to say "sorry." The driver actually shouted out the window, "It's okay! No worries, mate!" If you've spent any time in Los Angeles, New York, or even Phoenix, you know all too well the exchange would be entirely different. Refreshing!
